On Sunday September 5th, the City of Newport will participate in the largest celebration of the year along with the cities of Cincinnati and Covington. unfortunately, with a party of this magnitude there are a lot of do’s and dont’s for the event.
DO
- Dress Appropriately for the Weather.
- Wear Comfortable Shoes.
- Have a Good Time!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Plan Which Side of the Bridge You Want to Be on Before the Taylor Southgate Bridge Closes to Vehicles at 6:00 Pm and to Pedestrian Traffic at 7:30 Pm.
- Plan for Long Delays when Leaving the Event Due to the Large Amount of Vehicular Traffic.
DO NOT
- Bring Beverages of Any Type Into the Venue.
- Bring Coolers or Grills of Any Type.
- Bring Tents, Umbrellas or Large Chairs.
- Bring Rollerskates, Rollerblades or Scooters.
- Bring Mechanical, Motorized Vehicles or Bicycles.
- Bring Any Animals of Any Type.
- Solicit North of 4Th St. Without a Special Riverfest Vendors License Issued Specifically for the Event.
- Park Your Vehicle Illegally Anywhere That You Would Not Park It Any Other Time. (I.E. Expressway, Median, Road Shoulder, Entrance Ramps, Roadway, Clearly Marked “No Parking” Zones.) if You Park or Stop on the Interstate, You Will Be Cited or Towed!
- Attempt to Bring Any Type of Alcohol
We Are Advising All People, when Leaving the Event, to Take the Quickest Route to I-471. I-471 North or South Takes You Anywhere You Need to Go in the Tri-State Area. Take Whichever Entrance Ramp You Are the Closest to and After You Get on the Expressway, You Can Get off at the Next Exit and Turn Around if You Need to; This Will Speed up the Flow of Traffic Because All Access to Entrance Ramps Are Only One Lane.
STREET CLOSURES:
I-471 Northbound Will Remain Do Not Attempt to Park Open Throughout the Event. on I471 or the Bridge to View the Fireworks. You Will Be Cited and Your Vehicle Will Be Towed.
- Cowens Drive: Closes at 7:30 Pm
- Riverboat Row: Closes at 8:00 Am
- Columbia Street Below 4Th: Closes at 8:00 Am
- 3Rd Street, Westbound from York: Closes at 8:00 Am
- 3Rd St. Between York and Columbia: One Way East at 8:00 Am
- Purple People Bridge Closed to Pedestrians 5:00 Pm
- Taylor/Southgate Bridge: Closes to Vehicles 6 Pm Closes to Pedestrians 7:30 Pm

- I-471 Route 8 Exit Ramps: Closes at 7:30 Pm
- (North and South) Unless Safety Dictates Closing Earlier
- Monmouth Street 3Rd to 11Th: Closes at 7:30 Pm
- “No Parking on Monmouth Street After 7:00 Pm”
- 10Th St. Between Saratoga & York: Closes at 7:30 Pm
- 4Th Street Bridge to Covington: Closes at 8:30 Pm
- All Traffic Will Be Directed South on Central Ave (Route 9) to 12Th Street, Right (West) on 12Th and Follow 12Th to I-275.
NOTE:
- At Approximately 9:15PM, Monmouth Street Will Reopen and Change to One-Way South to Send All Traffic South on Us 27 to I-471 North and South.
- All Traffic Using Route 8 After the Event Will Be Sent Onto I-471 North or South As Well.
- After the Event the NKU Buses Will Stage at the Rt. 8 Entrance Ramp to I-471 Southbound for Everyone That Arrived on Those Buses.

Wine Over Water Returns on September 18, 2010 |

A one-of-a-kind event, Wine Over Water is a wine tasting held over the Ohio River on the Southbank Purple People Bridge with stunning views of the Cincinnati skyline.
This annual charitable event is hosted by the Newport Citizens Advisory Council (NCAC), a citizen’s group dedicated to improving the community of Newport for residents and visitors alike. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the repainting of the Southbank Purple People Bridge and ECHO Soup Kitchen.
Participants will enjoy sampling a selection of international wines as well as offerings from some of Greater Cincinnati’s preeminent boutique wineries. This delightful evening of wine, hors d'oeuvres and live music is designed to engage a diverse audience of residents from all around the area and build a sense of community while supporting a good cause.
